Today is Melbourne Cup Day, the highlight of the Australian horse racing industry. Personally, it means FA to me as I don't know one end of a horse from another and money is too hard to come by to give to the bookies. I'lld rather buy a pint or two.

However, Australia basically stops for the race, if not for the day. If we do have terrorist cells here, then this would be the day to do the dirty deed. Every man and his dog is glued to the the boob tube (tv) with a glass of their favorite beverage in their hand.

An example being my wife. She took champagne flutes into work. They're having a chicken and champagne brunch.

So here I sit, by myself, not a customer in sight. If it were my own business I would close up for the day and go to the pub. Not for the race of course, but for the pints and the atmosphere.

This is my last week here, as the boss gets back from his Long Service Leave. If I have my way, I will be in the South West of WA by Sunday and spend a week or so in my favorite hide away - Denmark. There, I will spend time with Gregji and Jamesji and Prakriti (nature).

Greg is coming to Perth this weekend and we will participate in an ale or two and I will head back to Albany with him, if possible. James is coming back to Perth with me for a week or so.

Gangaji, will also be in Perth in late November and I will return to attend several Satsangs. By that time I should be rejuvinated enough to find another job!

The race has just started and there is not one radio station playing music! Time for a smoke outside.

Shat! or is that Sat?

Well, I pissed the customer off in sufficient time to get to the pub by 5.20pm. Not only did I manage that, I offered good service at the same time.

I got home around 8.00pm; well on the way (see previous post); after having more than a few beers with Ged. Ged, a coffee shop proprietor, an ex "Mick" has been searching for "Truth" for many years and has found the teachings of Sailor Bob to his liking.

Its great to get on the booze and relax with someone who has experienced "no-thing". A play arises, and even trying to discuss it, after a few Guinesses and Kilkenys, ends up in some kind of convoluted discussion. But fun none the less.

Ged suggested a wine to take home, and I dare not it drink without "she who must be obeyed", as it is a little out of my price range. I will save it for a special occasion, maybe tomorrow. But like Beesucker said today, once I go through the queue with a product, I tend to pay for it, rather than say I can't afford it.

Tonight is "All Saints Night" or in its popular colloquialism, Halloween. This is one of the things about the influence of US culture I do not like. Well actually it is Scottish, the Yanks just got hold of it, burnt a few witches and continue to celebrate it without any idea of its significance (sic).

Down the pub tonight, there were kids all dressed up in their costumes; from Spiderman to Fairy, to Skulls and Angels. Jeez, would I have scared the "hell" out of them, if true to form, I drew a pentagram on the floor, got my ritual sword out and invoked Spirit. People would run for miles. Yet this is the true meaning of the day.

The day has ended well, I still have 3/4 a bottle of wine, my daughter and I are communicating and tomorrow, yet, does not exist.

Look at "dem eyes, de'res a demon in dem"!

Shit, shit, shit

Only half an hour to go 'till the workday ends and I am bored shitless. By 7.30pm, I should be well on my way.

Oh shit! They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years before. Because of their hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minneapolis and flew to Florida on Friday, and his wife was flying down the following day.The husband checked into the hotel, and unlike years ago, there was a computer in his room, and he decided to send an e-mail to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her e-mail address, and without noticing his error, sent the email to the wrong address.

Meanwhile...somewhere in Houston... a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a Minister who passed away after suffering a heart attack. The widow decided to check her e-mail, expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and then fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and then glanced up and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife
Date: Friday, January 20, 2006
Subject: I have Arrived!

Dearest Love:

I know you are surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now, and you are allowed to send e-mail to your loved ones.I have just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

PS ......
