And They're Off!

Here I sit at work, blogging yet again, due to my efficiency and the lack of customers. Today is Melbourne Cup Day, the highlight of the Australian horse racing industry. Personally, it means FA to me as I don't know one end of a horse from another and money is too hard to come by to give to the bookies. I'lld rather buy a pint or two.

However, Australia basically stops for the race, if not for the day. If we do have terrorist cells here, then this would be the day to do the dirty deed. Every man and his dog is glued to the the boob tube (tv) with a glass of their favorite beverage in their hand.

An example being my wife. She took champagne flutes into work. They're having a chicken and champagne brunch.

So here I sit, by myself, not a customer in sight. If it were my own business I would close up for the day and go to the pub. Not for the race of course, but for the pints and the atmosphere.

This is my last week here, as the boss gets back from his Long Service Leave. If I have my way, I will be in the South West of WA by Sunday and spend a week or so in my favorite hide away - Denmark. There, I will spend time with Gregji and Jamesji and Prakriti (nature).

Greg is coming to Perth this weekend and we will participate in an ale or two and I will head back to Albany with him, if possible. James is coming back to Perth with me for a week or so.

Gangaji, will also be in Perth in late November and I will return to attend several Satsangs. By that time I should be rejuvinated enough to find another job!

The race has just started and there is not one radio station playing music! Time for a smoke outside.

Comments:
